Medi-cal Dental Canine
Dental disease is the most commonly diagnosed health concern in dogs and cats, and most will suffer from some sort of dental related problem in their lifetime.
Dogs tend to be very stoic or unaffected by oral pain and it ends up going unnoticed by their owners. Some dogs may demonstrate small changes in behaviour or reduced activity.
Small Dogs are more prone to developing dental problems early on in life and in most cases their teeth and gums become more severe than in a large breed dog. In small dogs with severe dental problems they end up with periodentis and the destruction of the alveolar bone.
A mouth that goes uncared for can be a source of bacteria that can harm the heart, liver and the kidneys. Regular dental exams are recommended to keep your pet happy and healthy.
Medi-cal dental works in two ways:
- Mechanical Action – Kibbles are constructed to allow and encourage deeper tooth penetration before shattering. The large kibble size promotes, encourages and increases chewing.
- Tartar and plaque reducing ingredients. – Sodium triphosphate coats the surface of the kibble and binds with the calcium in the saliva to prevent calcified plaque from forming tartar and binding to the teeth.
A plaque reducing nutrient also helps prevent the formation of plaque due to it’s antibacterial and anti-adhesive properties.
Treats and Chews
Recommended one a day to help reduce and prevent plaque and tartar formation. These treats combine the scrubbing action of a tooth brush and the cleaning action of toothpaste to help provide dual acting dental care
They contain ingredients to help reduce bad breath and prevent plaque from sticking to the teeth.
Highly palatable for dogs of all size
